The main difference between building film and automotive film is their production process, gum, thickness, metal content requirements, function, use and performance indicators. The following are the main differences between architectural film and automotive film:

The production process  is different. Building film usually adopts vacuum aluminum plating process, which has high visible light reflection and solar energy reflection ability to control the entry of solar energy; Car film is not suitable for the use of highly reflective building film, because it will affect the line of sight and safety when driving.

Colloid is different. Building film generally uses cleaning glue (CDF), which is more adhesive and usually has a service life of 10 to 20 years; The car film uses ordinary back adhesive (HPR), which has a service life of about 3 to 5 years due to its different nature.

The thickness is different. The thickness of the building membrane is usually between 2mil and 16mil, providing better insulation and explosion-proof performance; The thickness of automotive film is generally between 0.8mil and 1.5mil.

Metal content requirements vary. The content of cadmium, nickel, titanium and other metals is more stringent, usually no more than 2.5%, in order to meet the overall requirements of environmental protection and ecology; The metal content of automotive film is generally not more than 5%.

The function is different. The main function of building film is heat insulation and explosion-proof, suitable for building glass; The main function of the car film is safe and explosion-proof, and it has the performance of heat insulation and ultraviolet resistance.

Different uses. Architectural film is dedicated to architectural glass, and automotive film is dedicated to automotive glass.

Different performance indicators. The performance indicators of building film are usually higher than that of automotive film, including light transmittance, heat insulation, reflectivity, U value and shading coefficient.
